Matching

Data matching is the first and, perhaps, the most important step for all data operations. The Database Compare Suite application automatically creates object pairs by names, but you still can specify them manually if necessary.

  1. Uncheck objects in the matched pair to exclude them from the following data operation.

Please note that the changes you’ve made in one panel are automatically duplicated in the other one.

  2. Choose the objects you want to add to the matching pairs from the pop-up window, which appears when you click on the cogwheel gear button on the right side of the object name.

  3. Use the Filters button at the top left-hand corner of the matching window to customize the list of objects, represented in the tree view.

  4. Press the Settings button at the top right-hand corner of the matching window or the cogwheel gear button in the appropriate row of the tree view to get to the matching settings page.

    • You can configure schemas matching on the Schemas matching tab.

      • Press the Add new schema group button to add new schema group in the matching list. Select new group of schemas from the drop-down list.

      • Pick the schema group in the tree view and press the Edit schema group button to edit the selected schema group.

      • Pick the schema group in the tree view and press the Delete schema group button to remove the selected schema group.

      • Please note that these settings do not affect the database, so changing schemas groups in matching settings doesn’t affect the database structure.

      • Click the Save button to save the changes in the matching settings window, or the Cancel button to exit without saving.

      • Click the Reset button to restore default parameters for all modified values.

    • Go to the Preferences tab to specify prefixes and suffixes in data objects names that will be ignored during automatic matching.

      • Here’s an example of how this feature works. If the table’s name in the left part is TPref_Table01, and the appropriate table in the right part is named Table01, you have to ignore the TPref_ prefix.

      • The following types of objects are supported: tables, views, functions, procedures, defaults, sequences, packages or modules, rules, synonyms and user defined types.

      • Click the Save button to save the changes in the matching settings window, or the Cancel button to exit without saving.

      • Click the Reset button to restore default parameters for all modified values.

  5. Press the Reset button at the top right-hand corner of the window to launch automatic matching for objects after changes in settings have been made.
