Blog: AWS Schema Conversion Tool: Offline mode

This continues our video blog series on the AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT). We will demonstrate how the AWS Schema Conversion Tool allows users to work with saved projects in offline mode without a connection to the source and target databases. This feature significantly speeds up the work of migrating the database schema as part of the application modernization process.

In offline mode, the AWS Schema Conversion Tool works with XML files that contain the metadata tree of all objects of the target and source databases, which were saved earlier in the project.

In this video, we will demonstrate how to work with the saved project, describe the available operations in this working mode, and discuss when you should establish the connection to source and target databases.

Thus, working with the AWS Schema Conversion Tool project in offline mode allows you to fully explore all issues that will emerge during the database migration process. Also, you can edit the source code of the source database to fix those issues and make sure that the changes will have an effect by launching the conversion process in offline mode.
