As dating apps rapidly become more ingrained in the culture of modern dating, some people cannot imagine life without them. However, every user knows how difficult it can be to portray yourself accurately with nothing but text and a few pictures. After all, seeing a static image does not suffice in fully understanding whether the person is The One, no one, or simply a great buddy.

HIMYNAMEIS is a unique application that strives to make the online dating experience more genuine with an elegant solution to this problem: It allows users to create a short video presentation instead of a profile picture for introductions. Moreover, it makes dating more secure by using two-factor authentication.

Unlike similar apps, HIMYNAMEIS is more forgiving in terms of dating experience. For example, if a user dislikes another user, this preference will be remembered for as long as the user having been disliked keeps their current video presentation. Once they change it, there’s a chance for both users to meet again and see if this new video can change some minds.

A team of developers started building this application before us, but they, unfortunately, could not cope with the amount of work and were taking far too much time to implement features.

As a company experienced in communication app development, we are proud to have taken over the development of this innovative dating app. Despite having begun working with HIMYNAMEIS relatively recently, we have already made a significant progress with tight deadlines.

We have reviewed all the initial features, such as matching, liking, and disliking, and stabilized and improved them so the app crashes much less often than in earlier versions. We have also improved user experience on older devices, making the app more available to a wider audience.

Among the notable new features we’ve implemented are video filters, which allow users to add their own unique flair to their video presentations.

The architecture centers on client-server communication. The client relies on the server to make searches, authenticate users, and chat via REST API and WebSocket. Notifications are implemented using APNS via WebSocket.

Currently, the app is available for iOS and is in development for Android. Download it from the App Store and give it a try, or watch our YouTube app review here.
