Overview

OraMigrator is an intuitive and effective solution for Oracle to SQL Server data migration. The tool transfers data from Oracle tables to existing SQL Server tables in a few easy steps.

Attention
Free trial version of OraMigrator can be used for evaluation purposes during two days after the downloading. Also, it migrates 10% of rows per each table, but not less than 100 rows. To enjoy the full functionality of this product for an unlimited period of time, you need to buy a license.

How to use the tool
Execute the OraMigratorSetup.msi file after it has been downloaded. During the installation, you should specify the folder for the program files and choose features to be installed. If you check “Launch OraMigrator when setup exits” during the installation, OraMigrator wizard will invite you to start the migration!

Features

A wizard-like interface that allows restarting migration from any step.

The tool uses the bulk copy mechanism to load data from Oracle tables to SQL Server. This approach allows it to achieve the maximum possible insertion speed.

Current migration task can be saved in a file and restored later. Thus you don't need to specify all parameters from scratch when you are repeating the migration for a similar set of tables on the same servers.

Many tables can be migrated as a part of a single migration task. The target SQL Server database and schema can be specified only once for the whole task.

The SELECT statement, which reads the source data, can be edited. This allows fixing many common data migration problems like incompatibilities in date ranges and number precision. Also, it makes possible to perform a partial data migration when you need to move only the records modified after a particular moment of time.

A SQL Server table can have column names different from Oracle. This can occur, for example, when an Oracle column name happens to be a SQL Server keyword. OraMigrator has a Column Mapping feature, which allows establishing a custom correspondence between Oracle and SQL Server columns if necessary.

  • Select the source data provider

Using OraMigrator, on the very first step, you need to select the source Oracle data provider.

  • Connect to the source database

Then you need to provide the connection credentials so that OraMigrator can connect to the source Oracle database.

  • Connect to the target database

After providing the source database connection credentials, you need to specify the connection credentials for the target SQL Server database.

  • Specify the schema mappings

After connecting both to the source and target databases, you need to specify the schema mappings between the source and target objects.

  • Select the source tables

Then specify the source tables, which you want to copy from the source Oracle database to the target SQL Server database.

  • Save and execute

Finally, you can opt for executing the operation immediately or simply saving the package to run it later.
